What we like about the SIRIS 3 X1
As you may have read, we received a SIRIS 3 X1 from Datto and we’re really excited to take it for a test spin. In a nutshell, the X1 is Datto’s first flash storage device for backup disaster recovery. It offers all of the functionality of the new SIRIS 3 platform. However, just on a smaller scale.
So, now that we’ve had a chance to live with it for a few days, here are the top 3 reasons to love the new SIRIS 3 X1 by Datto:
Reason #1: You get a truly enterprise-quality business continuity service for a ridiculously low price.
For about a thousand dollar investment, your business can have the a backup and recovery system that will rival that of businesses paying 100 times more. The low monthly fee includes 1 full year of off-site data retention.
Reason #2: This thing is fast, like really fast.
The hardware in the Datto SIRIS 3 X1 is impressive. Unlike its predecessors, it uses all solid state drives that stores data on chips rather than on spinning magnetic disks. This is important because it delivers higher performance than traditional hard drives and requires far less maintenance as there are no moving parts to act up.
Reason #3: it’s mighty, but TINY!
For businesses who have single-license backup needs, this is your device. The SIRIS 3 X1 is small enough to fit on your desktop (and pretty sharp-looking at that), but X1 features a single SanDisk 1TB flash drive, 16GB inline RAM, and a dual core Intel processor. Unlike the Datto Alto device, this allows for a backup to be virtualized locally.
