by | May 11, 2016 | Business Continuity

How do you choose the right backup and disaster recovery vendor?

If you aren’t totally sure, that’s ok. Here are a few questions to get you started when you speak with your prospective backup and recovery vendor.

1. What kind of backup solutions do you offer?

Make sure any vendor you are considering offers hybrid cloud technology. A hybrid cloud backup solution is the only way to achieve intelligent business continuity. It offers necessary redundancy as well as brings together the best of the private and public models to form a comprehensive and cost-effective solution.

2. Does the technology utilize instant local virtualization?

Downtime costs moola, and lots of it. And, in today’s age being “down” for any period of time is just not tolerated. Backup and Disaster Recovery vendors should offer solutions that allow you to have servers booting instantly locally so that services can be restored in a matter of seconds.

3. How do you know if the backup is working?

If you want to be confident that your backup is working, you need to see  that it is working. Make sure your backup and disaster recovery vendor is able to provide a screenshot verification.

4. Where do you virtualize?

You need to know critical business data and servers can be restored in the cloud–and quickly. This eliminates downtime, angry customers as well as frustrated employees.

5. What kind of technical support do you offer?

Anything other than 24/7/365 support is completely unacceptable for business continuity. Disaster doesn’t tend to be polite and occur during banker hours. In addition, make sure you are receiving US-based support. We all know what happens you you are calling overseas for customer support.
