How Datto Saved Christmas (and data) for the World

There once was a time that Santa used traditional backup, but Datto saved the day.
People may think Santa has it made. I mean, he only works one day a year, everyone is happy to see him and he gets all the milk and cookies one could want. While all that is true, things weren’t always jolly and merry up north. In fact, Christmas time was very stressful–not just worrying about the weather, but maintaining that global list of demands. If you think about it, there is a lot for Santa to remember and his memory isn’t what it was a couple hundred years ago. Let us review how Datto saved Christmas.
Things were simpler then. Santa and his elves could manage making lists as long as they checked everything twice. Anyway, times have changed and Santa and his team had too as well. For a while Santa was backing up his lists with tapes (not to name drop, but we hear he used Arc Serve)–and, it worked. He was even able to keep all the Kardashian kids and their outlandish demands straight.
However, that all changed about 10 years ago when the North Pole suffered from an unspeakable storm that almost cancelled Christmas. It was December 12th–crunch time for Christmas prep–and a major blizzard wiped out his database of deserving children and their wish lists. Everything on the North Pole was at a standstill. Santa called tech support, begged and pleaded to get those backup tapes restored, but his backup provider couldn’t confirm when they would be able to get Santa and his trusty elves back up and running. Santa was seriously stressed–even lost a few pounds that year.
Then, Christmas Eve, he received the call he was waiting for. . .most of his lists have been restored. So, Santa did what was needed and he and the elves pulled an all-nighter, prioritized the deserving children and got to work pulling off a Christmas miracle. That said, while he saved Christmas, he learned his lesson. . .no more tapes, he needed the best to backup his workshop. He needed a Datto SIRIS Enterprise 60,000. He needed to know that no matter what the North Pole weather brings, that he would be able to operate without disruption. And, now he can.
And, that’s how Datto saved Christmas for girls and boys around the globe. Find out what Datto can do for your business.
