what is cloud computingCloud computing is a phrase that confuses a lot of people. It seems like a simple enough idea, but different sources provide different explanations, leaving many of us confused as to what it truly is.

What is Cloud Computing?

Cloud computing generally incorporates Software as a Service (SaaS), Platform as a Service (PaaS) and Hardware as a Service (HaaS). Within those, companies can offer a variety of flexible and scalable monthly programs for:

  • • Hardware
  • • Software
  • • Anti-spam
  • • Storage servers

Most providers are in agreement that cloud computing always offers three things:

  1. • On-demand services with monthly or set pricing.
  2. • Flexibility to scale services as necessary.
  3. • The consumer only needs a computer and Internet access to use the service or program.

Although the term can confuse people, cloud computing always uses the power of the Internet to provide products and services to consumers.
