Don’t make a deadly mistake. Get business continuity software

Business Continuity Software Can Save Your Business Costly Downtime

Business continuity software is software that keeps a business going after a catastrophic loss of data. Pretty simple and straightforward, incredibly important. Many businesses think their data is not that important, others think they already have backup and recovery covered.

Data backup is not just about keeping copies of files. Many organizations build their own, local system backups. Many organizations also use their favorite cloud hosting service to back up all their files. While both of these approaches are good, is this adequate for a business in the mobile internet age? No. No, they are not.

With 78% of mobile business searches resulting in sales, businesses who want customers (and who doesn’t want customers) need their information and ordering systems online constantly. If data is backed up, but no recovery plan is in place for a business’s public interface, in the case of a fire destroying their servers, or their VPS going out of business (these things happen), then there is no plan for continuity.

Having a cloud hosting service for employees’ projects is an amazing tool to prevent data lost to limited hardware crashes, but it does not recover software on the hard drives of computers. Cloud hosting also does not rebuild a business’ websites and order processing if servers are lost. Systematic recovery should be able to save everything and create a virtual replica of business computers so that employees and customers will have limited down time as the system is rebuilt after a catastrophic crash.

A good electronic recovery program should include a virtual replica of a company’s systems, physical back-ups of material on site, and cloud hosted recovery systems for all data. The redundancy of data back up and system recovery will safeguard the company against information lost to negligence as well.

While there are many physical safeguards to put in place (emergency funds, fire prevention plans, redundancies in work systems) to keep a business running, business continuity software is key to running a business in the 21st Century.
