That’s right, today is Safer Internet Day

Thanks to my morning radio personalities, I knew today was national pizza day (yum), national bagel day (yum) and national toothache day (ouch). However, they failed to mention that is also Safer Internet Day too.

For over a decade, cyber-advocates from around the globe have used the second Tuesday in February to remind people of the real dangers trolling the internet. While the day started to with the intention of helping to keep our children safe, protecting yourself and your business on the internet is just as important in 2016.

Here are a few things you must do in observance of the 2016 Safer Internet Day.

1) Teach your children how to use and respect the power of the internet.

While the internet surely has its share of fun and games, there are also not so nice people online looking to take advantage of the vulnerable and under-informed. Click to learn 6 tips to make the internet a safer place for your children.

2) Take a crash course on best practices online to keep you and your assets safe.

Kids aren’t the only ones who are routinely victimized on the internet. It’s easy to think something won’t happen to you–well, until it does. Make sure you brush up on your own internet security skills with these essential rules.

3) Take Google’s security checkup and get some free storage space.
