Let cloud computing agility drive your business to success

Harness the power of cloud computing agility for massive results!

Agility is one of the main selling points for cloud computing. Agility is the speed and the ease at which you are able to complete something. In the business world, as explained in this 2014 article from Forbes, agility means being able to react quickly and cost efficiently to changes in the business environment. It’s a hard thing to measure, the Forbes article notes, as — in addition to speed — the term also reflects the notion of doing things right. It can mean entering new markets, reducing the complexity of your processes, or getting your product on the market quickly. So, what does cloud computing agility mean?

Cloud computing agility is also hard to concisely define, as stated in a recent article from InfoWorld, because there are variances from business to business, and across different industries. For example, measuring cloud computing agility through the use of automated processes to get products to market in less time matters a lot more in high tech industries than it does in manufacturing.

The bottom line, InfoWorld notes, is that the value — or return on investment — that you receive from cloud computing depends on how much time you save through automation, rapid deployments, or adjustment to your business processes. There’s no black and white answer to that; it all depends on the specific requirements of your business, as well as the affordability and reliability of your cloud services.

As mentioned in the Forbes article, a 2014 Harvard Business Review – Verizon study, while not defining agility itself, offered some clues as to what cloud computing does to increase business agility. 49 percent of the respondents had, after adopting cloud computing, entered a new market. 49 percent also had completed a merger or acquisition. Three quarters of the respondents, who were business executives, said cloud computing would decrease the complexity of their business. 66 percent said the complexity of their IT operations would be reduced. 61 percent said their employees would be more productive due to cloud computing, and more than half said cloud computing allowed them to be more responsive to their customers. Nearly a third of the respondents stated that business agility was their primary reason for adopting cloud computing.
